Max temp hovers close to normal in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: The maximum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered close to normal levels on Saturday, a Meteorological Department official said.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, received traces of rain and recorded a maximum of 32.9 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.

Punjab's Amritsar recorded a maximum of 33.6 degrees Celsius while Patiala settled at a high of 33.2 and Ludhiana at 33 degrees Celsius, it said.

In Haryana, Hisar recorded a maximum of 35.2 degrees Celsius followed by Narnaul and Bhiwani which registered a high of 34.2 degrees Celsius each.

The maximum temperature in Ambala settled at 33.4 degrees Celsius while Karnal recorded a high of 30.4 degrees Celsius, three notches below the normal, the weatherman said.

Parts of Haryana were also lashed with rains with Bhiwani recording 6.8 mm rainfall while traces were seen in Ambala and Hisar, he said.

The MeT department has forecast light to moderate rains at some places in Punjab and Haryana over the weekend.
