Waking up from a long coma, Daman learns that he was in a massive car crash with a girl who vanished soon after the accident, leaving him for dead.

From then on Daman is stalked and threatened by a terrifying beauty who claims to be Shreyasi and who will stop at nothing to make him pay for being a sell-out. Before Daman fights back, he needs to know: Is she really who she claims to be? What does she want from him now? What if he doesn’t do what she wants him to?
The Girl of My Dreams is definitely not your usual love story.
Review:
With this book, Durjoy Datta has managed to keep his readers hooked as it delivers numerous plot twists making it more paced than any of his other books.
The book is about the Protagonist, Daman who is facing challenges in life after surviving a deadly car accident. His girlfriend, Shreyasi, was with him in the car and he feels that because he was driving that day and he is guilty of her death.
Daman meets his new girlfriend, Avni who doesn’t like Daman mentioning Shreyasi, the girlfriend in his writings. Even after Avni’s repeated appeal to him to name her instead of Shreyasi, he keeps using his virtual girlfriend’s name. The plot becomes chaotic when Shreyasi comes back to life, the plot becomes interesting when she comes back to life and everyone starts to wonder how can a dead arise to living.
The plot of the book offers distractingly and intentionally misleading twists. The readers may expect certain outcomes, and boom! A totally unexpected resolution comes into the picture. The main plot is brawny and to the point. The concept of blending the sub plots with the main plot has been done effectively.
The characters in the story are dynamic, well-constructed, defined and relatable so much so that one can almost substitute with the real life people they know. They are given their equal portions of complications, flaws, perfections, confusions- very humane like!
You would find yourself asking questions like: who is this stalker girl? Where is Shreyasi? What does this stalker want from Daman?
As established earlier, the story of this book presents an unusual love story making it a psychological thriller.
About the Author:
Durjoy Datta is a novelist, screenwriter and the co-founder of the publishing house Grapevine India. He completed his education from the Management Development Institute located in Gurgaon and also has a degree from the reputed Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany. Before venturing into writing, Datta worked at NIIT Ltd., Siemens AG and American Express. In 2009, The Times of India honoured him as 'The Young Achiever'. He was also selected by Whistling Woods International in 2011 as one of the two young achievers in the category of Media and Communications.
