New Delhi: Light rains in a few areas brought the mercury down by two notches in the national capital on Tuesday, officials said.

The humidity levels oscillated between 84 and 49 per cent. 

"The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal while the minimum settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal," a MeT official said.

The Safdarjung observatory recorded 0.4 mm rainfall while the Palam observatory did not receive any rainfall. 

The Ridge area, Aya Nagar and Lodhi Road observatories recorded 0.3 mm, 0.1 and 0.22 mm rainfall respectively.

The weatherman predicted a cloudy morning on Wednesday with possibility of drizzle and strong surface winds towards the evening.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 36 and 28 degrees Celsius later in the day.

On Monday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 36.7 degrees Celsius and 28.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
