Plot: The film stars Mahesh Babu (Ajay Krishna) as an Indian Army Major who is posted in Kashmir and likes to live life on the edge. While the tale is entirely different for Rashmika Mandanna, she plays the role of (Samksruti). And her favourite pastime is to propose marriage to anyone she meets, so that she doesn’t have to marry the man of her father’s choice. So, when she sees Ajay, she refuses to let go. But it’s all fun and games and shown in a lighter vein.

Whereas, Vijayashanthi (Professor Bharati) is a patriotic woman and a single mother who lost her eldest son when he was serving in the army and still sends her second son. She is someone who does not shy away from taking tough decisions. Prakash Raj plays the role of Kurnool’s MLA (Nagendra) who’s the epitome of evil.

It’s when Ajay (Mahesh Babu) goes to meet Bharati (Vijayashanthi) to convey the news of her second son’s injury, he finds out Bharati is missing along with her family. The role of MLA Nagendra (Prakash Raj) and how Ajay (Mahesh Babu) steps up when Bharati is in trouble, forms the crux of the story.

Review: Director Anil Ravipdui has tried to balance out the storyline, though he gets caught up while weaving-in two mismatched stories together. Even the jokes get repetitive, so do the scenes, and the catch lines.

When it comes to performances, Mahesh Babu does good, he shines in the role of Army Major Ajay Krishna. Since, it’s been long since he got a chance to act in a film like this, he grabs the opportunity, to give it his all. In various scenes, his acting, expressions, dialogue delivery adds up to the emotion. While, Rashmika Mandanna is just there. She woos, gets hyper, but why she exists in this tale, other than to fawn over him, is a mystery.

Whereas, Vijayashanthi gets a solid role and sets up the viewers to expect much more from her character. But when even her role is ultimately reduced to one-liners praising the hero, there’s nothing much for her to do as well. Though, she too gives it her whole, especially in an emotional scene, so does Prakash Raj.

The screenplay of the film Sarileru Neekevvaru, is well written, the action by Ram-Lakshman is engaging. Even the editing of the film is fantastic, so are the production values and cinematography. Though Rathnavelu’s cinematography is unfortunately overshadowed by the VFX shots.

Moreover, the music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is superb. All songs from the movie are good and the background music is impressive. Lyrics penned by Ramajogayya Shastry deserve an applause too!

Overall, Sarileru Neekevvaru is worth watching for Mahesh Babu and Vijayashanthi, especially if you miss watching them.
